Fishing Tackle Boxes in the UK: A Few Useful Items to Carry
As you plan for the emerging fishing season, part of the enjoyment comes from setting up our your tackle box with the things you’ll need to catch a whopper. While you may remember to bring bobbers, line, sinkers, leaders, and hooks, you could fail to pack everything you need, which could spell disaster for your otherwise fun and relaxing venture. These are a handful of items that are essential equipment for any angler.
Fishing Tackle Boxes -Pliers with a Needle Nose
Needle nose pliers are a great addition to any tackle box. This tool makes it easy to remove hooks from fish. Be sure to choose a needle nose that has an integrated cutter that will be quite handy if you need to snip the end of a hook before removing it. Needle nose pliers are also good for crimping split shot and leaders on your line.
Knife
Select a rugged, versatile knife. I’d recommend a pretty large blade made of stainless steel. A partially serrated blade offers the most flexibility. The blade also needs to be strong enough to clean or fillet fish. A couple of excellent additions to have on a quality knife are a hook {disgorger and a scaler~scaler and hook remover}.
File
A file can aid you in maintaining a sharp edge on your hooks, and with some practice, your knife as well. Choose a small triangular shaped file with a different abrasive surface on each side. A number of fisherman like using a whetstone better, but these take more practice than a file.
Toilet Roll
Quite honestly, there’s just no suitable replacement for toilet paper should you need some. An entire roll of paper isn’t required. Unravel some and stick in inside a waterproof bag. Make sure to take plenty though, and you may want to add some paper towels or Kleenexes, too. If nothing else, they make great tinder should you have to build a fire.
Fishing Tackle Boxes -Fingernail Clipper
Many nail clippers already come with their own file which can be used for sharpening hooks. Also, the clipper itself is a good way to cut the line.
Lighter
You never know when you're going to need a fire. Lighters can also be used to melt a plastic worm back together or repair the end of a nylon rope (to avoid fraying).
Emergency Box
A portable kit that fits inside a pocket is your best option. The kit should include something to cleanse a wound, dress a wound, and/or kill the germs around a wound. An Ace® bandage and gauze pads also are good to include. You should also carry a pain-killer such as Tylenol. Finally, remember to take some sunscreen.
Bug Repellent
Getting eaten up by bugs and insects is a sure-fire way to have a miserable outing, so make sure your tackle box includes some bug spray to keep those pests far, far away.
Fishing Tackle Boxes -Travel-Size Food
Take something like granola bars or something for quick energy. They are nutritious, just as raisins or nuts are.
Now you can sit back, and focus on catching a whopper!
Apple may offer two iPad sizes in 2012 (Biz Journal)
Apple Inc. may roll out two sizes of new iPads in 2012, according to a new
report from Asia. The two sizes would be a full-size iPad 3 in the first
quarter and a 7.85-inch version in the second half of the year. Taipei-based
Digitimes cited its unnamed Asian supply sources who said that Apple has been
persuaded to come out with a smaller version to counter Amazon.com Inc.'s
Kindle Fire. It reports, "In addition to purchasing 7.85-inch panels from LG
Display, Apple will also buy panels from AU Optronics (AUO), indicated the
sources, adding that makers in the supply chain are likely to begin production
of the 7...
