Are ipod software updates supposed to take this long?

im currently updating my ipod touch to the latest software, and i started at 7 but its only 4 bars complete..my computer isnt that old but im afraid of losing all my ipod data..is it supposed to take this long?

yes it is trust me. i done it to mine and it was so slow that i restored it to a backup which had almost nothing on it. Then after doing that it took about 15 minutes. I put everything back on after that. You dont get everything in the IOS 4.0 update. i Different for different devices.
